Our Mission

National Proposition is a blog site with a mission. Clearly there needs to be a better way to focus the needs and priorities of average citizens than by the occasional vote through the United States voting system. The 21st century is the age of information but the amount and speed of information is outpacing the century’s old political system. Our planet is becoming smaller both because of population and the global cyber community yet our government is becoming more distant.

As we are literally using up the only world we will ever have it seems our government is only interested in pleasing lobbyists and pandering to special interests. It is time for people to band together and speak louder than K Street and take back this country. How many times have you heard someone ask what one person can do? Well plenty, especially when you focus the voices of many people onto the exact person or committee that needs to hear them. One of our nation’s first mottos was “E pluribus unum” meaning “Out of many, one”. This couldn't be more appropriate for the current times we live in.

Our mission is to take the best ideas from across the nation and develop propositions that can be voted on and commented on by the citizens of this country as the need arises, not every four years. A proposition is submitted and debated for a period of time. During this time the submitter of the proposition can fine tune and adjust it to better reflect the feelings of its viewers. Once the debate is complete the proposition will be posted for voting. When a proposition gathers enough positive signatures, it will be forwarded to the proper end point and a response will be expected and demanded. All National Proposition users can be notified of any news and correspondence that is occurring real time via e-mail. It is hoped that this focused pressure by the general public can outweigh the other political and monetary pressures our representatives are facing and help to bring the government back to the people.

Holding elected officials accountable to those who elected them is our right and our duty. Too often have politicians said exactly what they know needs to be said to get themselves elected and then abandoned those statements once in office. Together ‘We the People’ can make a difference.
